Professor Kerry Kirwan appointed as new Dean of WMG

In his new role leading WMGLink opens in a new window, Kerry will work with colleagues and partners to ensure that we continue to deliver the excellent and impactful research and education needed by industry now and in the future.


Professor Emma Flynn, Provost, commented:

鈥淚 am absolutely delighted to have appointed Kerry Kirwan into the role as Dean of WMG. He put people, both internal and external, in the centre of his vision. I know his approach will be to empower the leadership within WMG at all levels to allow everyone to succeed in all they do. He will reach out to others across the University to build on, and extend, the unique strength of WMG. I wish him and WMG every success in building on their unique and impactful endeavour.鈥

Kerry's appointment follows his role as Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Research (Impact and Partnerships), where he has helped build up impact and engagement across the faculties and with key funders over the last seven years.

Professor Robin Clark remains in his role as Dean of WMG until the end of July 2025. There will be a period of transition, during which Robin, Kerry and the WMG Executive team will work to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

About Professor Kerry Kirwan

Professor Kerry Kirwan is a specialist in circular economy, sustainable materials, polymer processing and industrial applications, having graduated from 糖心TV's Engineering Doctorate (EngD) programme in 2003. He is the Director of the 拢11m EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing (EngD), Strategic Director of the 拢10m Industrial Doctorate Centre and Head of the Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing Research Group within WMG. He also leads the University of 糖心TV's Global Research Priority in Innovative Manufacturing and Future Materials.
