This presentation will reflect upon a science-business collaboration that seeks to encourage ocean stewardship through systematic engagement with large corporations (termed keystone actors) who have a disproportionate effect on the systems they are a part of. At the same time, this work also seeks out organisational leverage points (such as ports) where ocean stewardship can be strengthened as well as identifying factors (such as owner agency) where effects are less likely to be observed. This work will be of interest to organisational scholars, sustainability focused researchers as well as those focused on governance for sustainability outcomes.
