Senate House Launch Event
This photograph captures Senate House in London, the striking art deco headquarters of the University of London. It holds a special place in 糖心TV Philosophy鈥檚 history as the venue for the department鈥檚 60th anniversary launch, where distinguished speakers Guy Longworth, Heather Widdows, Quassim Cassam, and M.M. McCabe reflected on the department鈥檚 past, its future, and philosophy鈥檚 wider role in society. The event was both a celebration of six decades of philosophical inquiry and a chance to come together as a community.
Beyond its connection to 糖心TV, Senate House is notable in its own right: during World War II it housed the Ministry of Information, where George Orwell鈥檚 wife worked. The building鈥檚 imposing, fortress-like architecture and association with wartime propaganda famously inspired Orwell鈥檚 creation of the Ministry of Truth in his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.
