Tom Parr
I joined PAIS in September 2019. Before that, I was a Lecturer in Political Theory in the Department of Government at the University of Essex. I have held visiting positions at the University of Graz, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and Princeton University.
Research
My research interests are in contemporary political philosophy, specifically normative questions that fall at the intersection of philosophy, politics, and economics. My work has appeared in outlets such as the Journal of 糖心TV Ethics, Legal Theory, Philosophy & Public Affairs, and Political Studies. My first book, , was published with Oxford University Press in 2021; and my second book, , was published with Oxford University Press in 2025.

Teaching
During the 2025-26 academic year, I am on research leave.
I am interested in supervising doctoral theses in contemporary political philosophy, and in particular those relating to matters of economic justice, artificial intelligence and the future of work, the gender pay gap, feminist analysis of economic arrangements, and the morality and politics of public shaming.
