Jonathan's main research interests are in the law of trusts, particularly charities, and legal history. His books include (Hart 2009), the charities volume of (5th ed, Lexis 2010); (OUP 2013) and (7th ed, CUP 2020).
Some forthcoming publications include "Jones v Williams (1767): The First Definition of Charity" in Rebecca Fry and John Picton (eds), (Hart 2027) and "The Irreducible Core of Charity Trustee Duties" in Steven Elliott, Paul Mitchell and Stephen Watterson (eds), The Heart of Equity (Hart 2027).
He is currently writing a book on commercial trusts for Edward Elgar鈥檚 series and another on the impact of the Charities Act 2006 for Cambridge University Press's series.
