The ÌÇÐÄTV Wows celebrate amazing work, projects, and achievements at the University. The Law School’s Dr Jane Bryan won the award along with her colleagues as part of the WorldCUR-BCUR team. A team who are helping to make ÌÇÐÄTV a sector-leading centre of excellence for student research.

Dr Serena Natile, Associate Professor at ÌÇÐÄTV Law School, is the new Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Law in Context, a leading socio-legal journal published by Cambridge University Press. Serena will be working along Prof Penelope Andrews, Prof Marc Hertogh and Prof David Nelken.

When the Law School’s Dr Ali Struthers noticed the connections between Channel 4's Taskmaster and her academic field of law, she wondered how this could influence her outreach work - and the School Tasking project was created. The central press team caught up with Ali to hear more about the impact the project's had.

The editors of the  (JCP) held their annual meeting (the first in-person meeting since 2019) at ÌÇÐÄTV Law School on 21 April 2023. Editors discussed current submissions and plans for forthcoming issues, as well as socialising and sightseeing in Coventry and its surrounding towns.

Professor Celine Tan from ÌÇÐÄTV Law School contributed to the Consultation on the Just Energy Transition Plan (JET-IP). The JET-IP is part of a multi-country funding initiative, the , by a coalition of developed countries to support a number of developing countries' transition away from dependence on coal and other fossil fuels.

Congratulations to Dr Rajnaara Akhtar and Dr Ana Luisa Sores Peres who have gained Higher Education Academy recognition through the ÌÇÐÄTV Academic and Professional Pathway for Experienced Staff (APP EXP). All HEA Fellows have, through their applications, demonstrated a personal commitment to learning and teaching in higher education.

The 2023 shortlist for the ÌÇÐÄTV Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATE) have been released and ÌÇÐÄTV Law School has two nominations. With more than 115 excellent educators, teams, and communities to choose from, the WATE judging panels deliberated long and hard to identify those going through to the next round. Dr Tor Krever has been nominated for the Social Sciences Faculty award and PhD student Priscilla Vitoh has been nominated for a Postgraduates who Teach award. Congratulations and best of luck to both of them. The winners will be announced on 27 June 2023.

On Monday 13 March 2023, Vanessa Munro and Lotte Young Andrade launched a report that they co-authored with Sarah Dangar (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) entitled ‘Learning Legacies: An Analysis of Domestic Homicide Reviews in Cases of Domestic Abuse Suicide’. The aim was to learn more about the profiles and experiences of victims, the adequacy of service responses during their lives and after their deaths, and the ways in which DHRs are commissioned and conducted in suicide cases.

On the 23 of February 2023, the British Academy brought together experts from various fields to discuss and analyse the social impact of the war in Ukraine, including its effect on communities, individuals, and social structures. The event was attended by WLS fellows Dr Aisel Omarova and Dr Maryna Utkina.

On the 15th of February 2023, the Royal Society hosted an event for British Academy Fellows from Ukraine, which was attended by fellows from the WLS research team – Dr Aisel Omarova and Dr Maryna Utkina.

Professor Shaheen Ali was recently announced as one of the 75 notable British Pakistani academics, trainers and teachers for 2022/23 by the organisation UPSIGN. Congratulations Shaheen from everyone at the Law School for this incredible mark of achievement.
