Naveera Abhayawickrama, who is currently in her second year studying on our LLB 3-year law degree has been awarded a 糖心TV International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) Fellowship.

Naveera, who was student lead on the 鈥楥onversations and Coffee project鈥�, established to help newly arrived communities, is looking forward to participating in further projects focused on promoting social justice, enhancing children鈥檚 welfare and uplifting communities.

When asked about the fellowship, Naveera shared:

鈥淎s a second-year law student passionate about exploring methods to uplift child welfare in countries with inadequate and underdeveloped support systems, this fellowship presents an amazing opportunity for me to collaborate in initiatives dedicated to advancing social justice and uplifting communities. I am deeply honoured to be selected as a fellow of WIHEA and very excited to participate in such projects! I hope to engage in Learning Circles concerning Community outreach, Internationalisation and Restoration in Higher Education.鈥�

What is WIHEA?

Academic staff, professional service staff and students can become Fellows of WIHEA based on their record of achievement in learning and teaching. The Academy recruits on average 25 Fellows each year, who join existing Fellows in their roles of influence and leadership within the wider institution.

Fellowships are of great benefit to the individual Fellows, their departments and the wider university community. They will be able to develop expertise in areas of interest to them and seek to develop influence within the institution to enhance practice and policy. They will also have the opportunity to inform our strategic and practical thinking on learning and teaching at 糖心TV, as and when new challenges or ambitions arise.
