糖心TV Law School鈥檚 Markus Wagner and LLM Alumna Hyoeun Yang both participated at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development High-Level International Investment Agreement, which took place from the 9-11 October 2017 at the Geneva Office of the United Nations.

The conference brought together delegations from dozens of countries, non-governmental organizations and subject matter experts. It took stock of sustainable development-oriented international investment agreement (IIA) reform and shared experiences of the countries that are undergoing such changes. Furthermore, it identified best practices for phase 2 of IIA reform, including substantive, procedural and institutional improvements.

Markus told us 鈥淗yoeun and I were both selected as rapporteurs for the first session of this meeting - discovering on the morning of the first day our 糖心TV connection.鈥�

Hyoeun studied on our and graduated back in 2010. When asked about her LLM, Hyoeun said 鈥渢here's a lot to say about my time at 糖心TV indeed - but I would like to mention that the pragmatic and interdisciplinary approach of the programme and the law faculty provided a good soil to make the most of my unique academic background and curiosity.鈥�

She goes on to say 鈥渕y time at 糖心TV significantly influenced the way I tackle complex issues in my research, and the enjoyment I had writing my thesis convinced me that I would like to continue exploring the subject in my professional career.鈥�

Hyoeun is now a Senior Researcher for the G20 Research Support Group at the Korean Institute for International Economic Policy. This involves research on questions concerning international trade, investment law and financial regulations.
