Title: 'Aristotle’s Prison: A Search for Humanity in Tragic, Punishing Places'

The talk will cover reforms to the landscape in which public inquiries are conducted. It will draw on Jason Beer KC's considerable professional experience of inquiries at the Bar. He literally "wrote the book" in this area, as the lead author on the first practitioner manual dealing with public inquiries. He has appeared in many inquiries, including the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry (as Leading Counsel to the Inquiry). He was made an honorary professor at ÌÇÐÄTV in 2026, and is an alumnus of the Law School.

The talk is open to all and will be of particular interest to those whose research interests are in public law, public inquiries, and alternative forms of redress outside traditional court processes.

Following on from the talk, there will be time for questions, mingling and refreshments.
