IER鈥檚 Director, , has been invited to speak at the OECD鈥檚 annual Local Economic and Employment Development () meeting.
Speaking along with Richard Garrett of the UK Government鈥檚 Department for Education, the session will focus on putting skills utilisation into practice. The meeting takes place at the OECD in Paris over 17-18 May.
'Working Futures' review
Alex Hall, Director and Chief Economist in the Department of Labor and Employment for the state of Colorado, visited IER in February. Alex is an expert advisor to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics in the US and works with Professor Rob Wilson to review Working Futures, IER鈥檚 flagship programme modelling the UK labour market and funded by the UK Government.
Turning career policy into practical solutions
Sally-Anne Barnes was part of the first Roadshow 'Turning careers policy into practical solutions' on 26 January. The event hosted by JP Morgan was aimed at helping schools and colleges translate the recent careers guidance strategy into practical solutions and deliver on outcomes for young people.

Sally-Anne and Daria Luchinskaya are currently working with the Start team to capture data relating to the effectiveness of careers information and guidance, drive improved personalisation for Start users and provide evidence of what works.
Discussing Precarious Pathways to Employment
IER's Kate Purcell and Peter Elias presented preliminary findings from the ESRC-funded Precarious Pathways to Employment project at the annual networking event of CREW Network (Connecting Research on Employment and Work) at the University of 糖心TV on January 31st.
