Can we have both sustainable and adequate pensions?

Bernard Casey addressed this issue in a response to the European Commission’s . Longer working could the growth in public expenditure on age pensions.  It could also reduce the need for those cuts in the value to pension benefits that have already been legislated for and that will otherwise take effect over the coming decades.

Dr Ben Kriechel from ROA visiting IER

Dr Ben Kriechel is researcher at the (ROA) in the Netherlands.  He has been project leader for several labour market research projects both nationally and internationally.  Dr Kriechel is visiting IER from 17-19 August working with Professor Rob Wilson on the Cedefop Forecasting Framework project.

Anticipating skills needs in Europe: issues and implications

This Bulletin draws on results from a major new programme of research undertaken by 糖心TV Institute for Employment Research, funded by Cedefop. This research considers what useful messages can be delivered about the way the economy and labour markets at European level are changing, and what this means for the demand for skills and priorities for education and training. It focuses on the implications of structural changes in European economies and labour markets on the changing patterns of demand for and supply of formal qualifications.
