Information for mentors and the Mentor Development Programme

Welcome to all Professional and General Mentors working with PGCE students at 糖心TV.鈥

Your role as a mentor is very important to the development of our trainee teachers, and one we value highly at CTE. So that we can support you to join our network of high-quality mentors, we ask that you complete the following six tasks:

1. Watch the relevant鈥痬entor briefing below:

Two children writing maths equations on a whiteboard.
Group of young children running and smiling.
Map of the world with country names written behind it.

2. Create an account in Axia

Your trainee's portfolio, mentor and trainee resources, mentor broadcasts and the Mentor Development Programme are all held in Axia, so it is important that you create an account and access the platform regularly.

and click on the Mentor Registration tab to initiate the account creation process. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

Personal email addresses should not be used

Please note: If you are not currently mentoring any 糖心TV students, you will see warning messages saying this, but it will not stop you from accessing the MDP content. Once you start mentoring a trainee, they will add you to their portfolio.

3. Sign up for a Mentoring Conference.

All mentors are required to engage with a Mentoring Conference at the beginning of the term in which they are mentoring a trainee. Conferences will be offered in September and January.

The aims of this conference are as follows:

  • To gain a shared understanding of the principles and processes of being a 糖心TV Mentor.
  • To explore how the ITaPs and Professional Practice Units are used to support trainee development.
  • To be able to explain how the mentoring documentation supports the trainee in their teaching practice.

Our Mentoring Conference is offered in three different formats:
