External examiner was Dorien van de Mieroop who attended the viva in person and also gave a talk (accompanied by some lovely Belgium chocolate) at the department, and internal examiner was Kieran File
Congratulations to Xi Li, who passed her PhD viva (online) with flying colours!
Xi's thesis was titled 鈥楢 history of English Education in Missionary Institutions in Late 19th and Early 20th Century China鈥. Xi Li鈥檚 external examiner was Prof. Bob Adamson (University of Nottingham Ningbo), author of China鈥檚 English: A History of English in Chinese Education. Prof. Neil Murray was the internal examiner and Dr Jason Anderson acted as viva adviser. Xi Li鈥檚 supervisor, Prof. Richard Smith, has now guided 25 doctoral students to successful completion of a thesis as main or 50:50 supervisor!
