Dr George Wood

PhD Research

I completed my PhD in 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Geetha Balakrishnan. My work focused on understanding the formation of in centrosymmetric materials as part of the UK Skyrmion ProjectLink opens in a new window.

I used mostly neutron and x-ray scattering techniques to understand the physics of these systems.

.

Background

I completed a Master of Physics (MSci) degree at the University of Bristol in 2020. For my Master's project, I investigated photoconductivity in the quantum paraelectric materials SrTiO3 and KTaO3 and was supervised by Dr. Christopher Bell.

Where am I now?

George is currently an Instrument Scientist for the LET spectrometer at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source.
