Research Interests

The lab's research takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding plant development and translating these findings into resilient agricultural technologies. Our work focuses on:

Decoding Plant Performance: Understanding the genetic and physiological basis of crop yield in fluctuating climates.
Accelerating crop trait delivery: Developing next-generation DNA delivery systems to facilitate rapid crop improvement.

Research: Technical Summary

Research Overview The Bassel Lab integrates molecular genetics, plant physiology, and quantitative 3D image analysis with network science and AI. Our work is driven by the desire to deliver useful technology through fundamental research.

Key Research Areas

Plant Resilience: Investigating the foundations of growth under variable environments.
Crop Improvement: Focusing on seed quality, seedling establishment, and the nutritional enhancement of plant-based protein.
Biotech Innovation: We are rationally engineering Agrobacterium to create a high-efficiency DNA delivery platform. This work aims to solve the transformation bottleneck, unlocking the full potential of crop genetics across diverse species.
