Library Update from Robin Green, University Librarian
Various Library study spaces remain available and these are managed to make them Covid-safe. Government guidance still states that individuals should stay at home and only leave home if essential. So, if students can work from home they should, but for those that don’t have accommodation that is conducive to study we offer the following: see further details.....
The Rootes Grid, which is available for all ÌÇÐÄTV students. The Rootes FlexiGrid (on the 1st Floor) and Panorama Rooms (on the 2nd Floor) are also open as study spaces.
The Postgrad Hub for PG students – in Junction, the old Sports Centre.
For Medical and Life Sciences students, there is the BioMed Grid on Gibbet Hill.
These sites are all open seven days a week – students are advised to visit our Web site for full details.
The Library is continually reviewing the situation and is working with colleagues across campus to open new spaces where we can, based on demand. Students can refer to the pages on the Web and their MyÌÇÐÄTV app to see what is available and where.
Given social distancing guidelines, these spaces are open for individual study only at the moment, and users need to follow the University’s safe working and sanitising practices. When visiting our sites users MUST:
- wear a face covering (unless they have a medical exemption not to)
- remain 2 metres apart from others, including Library staff
- sanitise their hands.
There is cleaning equipment so our users can clean their workstation.
We take everyone’s safety very seriously and anyone not following these rules will be asked to leave.

Intern with the IMOC and visit us in Florida next year
Dear Student,
Greetings from the International Maths Olympiad Challenge team
At the outset, let us first introduce ourselves. We are among the largest International Maths Olympiad bodies in the world and we have an ongoing legacy for 24 years. We have catered to more than 2 million students in the past and this year, with the assistance of partners like Deloitte, we are all set to hit 3 million students. We are based in Florida with key stakeholders all across the world. Our CEO, who is also an Assistant Dean at Harvard, would like to take this opportunity to invite you to participate in a Student Ambassador program.
The opportunity we are offering you is 2 fold. To begin with, we are shortlisting smart students who can intern with us (online) this Jan-Feb. This is a paid internship which will last for 6 weeks (30 working days). The remuneration is bespoke but to give you some perspective, the average amount earned by a student last year was USD 748 in the 6 weeks window. There are no specific timings during this internship and you are expected to work online after college hours only. We do not expect you to work during any exam period. The second aspect of this internship is an all-expense-paid trip to Florida. If you excel in this internship, you will be nominated as a Student Ambassador for a fully sponsored 10-day conclave in our campus in Florida. Of course, more details would be shared well before the conclave. Due to the pandemic and the consequent travel restrictions, we haven’t frozen the dates of the conclave yet, but we expect it to be conducted in the second half of next year with the selections to begin in Jan 2021. All the details regarding the internship and the Student Ambassador Program will be explained to you during a webinar which will be conducted later this month.
If you would like to avail this opportunity, fill up the form below. There are multiple webinar slots you can choose from. We are eager to have you intern with us and visit us as well. Good luck!
