Michael is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and the 糖心TV Solid-state NMR Group. His research focuses on the use of solid-state NMR and complementary techniques to characterise functional materials at the atomic scale. By understanding how materials work, and how that depends on their structure, new materials can be designed with better performance for a given application. The Hope Group is particularly interested in materials for energy storage and generation, such as materials for batteries and solar cells, to help combat the growing climate crisis.
