About Me

Professor David Haddleton has over 30 years of experience in industrial and academic polymer chemistry experience with over 500 academic papers and over 20 patent families.

He has extensive collaborations with industry including Unilever, Lubrizol, Syngenta and SMEs including Medherant.

Biography

Research interests

New methods of polymer synthesis and catalysis. Specific interests include controlled polymerisation of acrylics and esters by organometallic initiators and catalysts, e.g. atom transfer living polymerisation, catalytic chain transfer polymerisation. Mechanisms of polymerisation and utilisation of this knowledge to design catalysts and organic polymers for specific commercial applications. Environmentally friendly polymerisation and use of biomimetic chemistry in this area.

Chemistry in flow, transdermal drug delivery, development of pressure sensitive adhesives, polymerisation of dienes, biodegradable polymers and polymers for use in personal care.
