David Burnett wins poster prize

PhD student David Burnett from was awarded best poster prize at the International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Association held in Bordeaux October 26-29th. His poster, "Hydrothermal Synthesis of Doped RuO2 Materials", concerned new synthetic routes to conducting oxide materials.

Gibson Group in ChemEng News

Cryopreservation research has been highlighted in an article in Chemical and Engineering News. The group are developing a range of macromolecules which mimic the function of antifreeze proteins, found in Polar fish species, which can slow the rate of ice crystal growth. The group have shown these unique polymers to enhance the cryopreservation of donor tissue/cells, particulary blood. Professor Andrew Dove wins 糖心TV Award for Teaching Excellence

Professor Andrew Dove has won one of this year's 糖心TV Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATE). It includes a prize of £5000 to support his teaching practice. Andrew's award will be presented during one of the Graduation Ceremonies in July.

Chemistry Outreach awarded £150,000

Congratulations to Dr Paul Taylor (Chemistry and IATL), Nick Barker (Chemistry) and Paul Blagburn (Student Admissions and Recruitment) who have successfully secured £150,000 from the Royal Society of Chemistry’s National Widening Participation (WP) programme ‘Chemistry for All’. Competition for these awards was fierce and 糖心TV was one of just four institutions, out of sixteen, to receive funding.
