About

Tackling the global challenges created by Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) has long been a passion of mine, which I have explored from many angles including research, advocacy, outreach and policy. I first began research on AMR during a summer project in my undergraduate degree where I worked exclusively on the Mur ligases and the peptidoglycan synthesis pathway. I then began my PhD which focused on MurM (a protein in Streptococcus pneumoniae) which is important for high-level penicillin resistance, and subsequently continued working on pneumococcus in my 1st postdoc, with a focus on understanding capsule switching and the impact on vaccine efficacy and formulations. I am now in my second postdoc working on the FtsWI proteins (part of the E.coli divisome) as well as ligases MurA and C, as potential targets for new antimicrobial therapeutics.
