Professor Louise Séguin Visit
is an internationally recognised expert in the field of child health inequalities with a particular focus on the impact of poverty in early childhood on the physical health of children. She is Professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Montreal and leads the health component of the Quebec Longitudinal Study of Child Development. She has an extensive range of publications in the field and her recent papers (Séguin et al, 2007; Ehounoux, Zunzunegui, Séguin et al, 2009) are major contributions to knowledge about the adverse effects of poverty on health in early childhood and have generated academic and media interest.
