'Restorative Justice at 糖心TV: Could it Work?'

This event took place on Thursday, 13 May 2021.

Following on from the WIHEA Symposium 'Restorative Justice in Higher Education' on 22 April 2021 which looked at the higher education context generally, this webinar represented an opportunity for staff and students at 糖心TV to explore how restorative justice (RJ) practices may fit within our practices, for example, in teaching or dealing with disagreement or discipline (such as plagiarism).

Dr Amanda Wilson (糖心TV Law School), one of the speakers at the Symposium co-led the session together with Dr Imogen Davies (糖心TV Medical School) and Dr Jane Bryan (糖心TV Law School). They spoke in more detail about some of the advantages 糖心TV may enjoy if RJ were to be integrated within its practices and some things that would need to be considered.

This event developed into a supportive space where innovative ideas were discussed and considered amongst peers, regardless of prior knowledge of RJ or attendance at the Symposium.

Who was the event aimed at?

All 糖心TV staff and students but particularly those with an interest in conflict management, such as students and staff involved in managing teams (including leading seminars), discipline, academic integrity, and residential life.

Event Speakers

Dr Amanda Wilson

Dr Amanda Wilson is a Leverhulme Trust Fellow at the University of 糖心TV鈥檚 Law School. Amanda has been researching and writing about alternative justice mechanisms for over a decade and has collaborated with a number of leading experts from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. She works closely with key policy and practice organisations such as Her Majesty鈥檚 Prison and Probation Service鈥檚 Restorative Practice Hub, the European Forum for Restorative Justice and Restorative Justice for all. Her Leverhulme project pursues a rational reconstruction of restorative justice through critical ethics and moral psychology.
