Upcoming Talk by Dr Kirsten Harris for the Resonate Festival

To celebrate Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture, the University of ÌÇÐÄTV – a principal partner of City of Culture – has been hosting The Resonate Festival. Next week marks the grand finale of the festival: three days of special events taking place on campus from 19-21 April 2022.
Our very own Dr Kirsten Harris will be contributing to the festival on Thursday evening, sharing her thoughts on the disputed concept of freedom:
Living Free: Utopian Worlds
Thursday 21 April 2022, 8:30 - 9:30 pm,
"From Thomas More’s Utopia to Marvel’s Black Panther, this fascinating talk from Dr Kirsten Harris explores questions of freedom through utopian imaginings from a range of places and times.
What does freedom look like to different people, cultures or societies?
Does freedom mean liberty from oppression, or is it having the freedom to pursue your own desires and interests?
Utopian thinkers identify major problems in their own societies and propose solutions to imagine better futures. 'Freedom' features a lot in this kind of social dreaming.
Writers, film-makers, activists and theorists all explore ways of living that bring greater liberty and happiness. But freedom is a disputed concept."
We hope to see you at Kirsten's (free) talk!
