PhD student Zoë Shacklock publishes article in New Review of Film and Television Studies

Zoë Shacklock, who is a PhD student in Film and Television Studies, has published an article entitled 'The Affective Sublime in Lars von Trier’s ‘Melancholia’ and Terrence Malick’s ‘The Tree of Life’' in the journal New Review of Film and Television Studies. She co-authored the article with Sarah French.

Dr. Karl Schoonover gives seminar at Oxford on eco-documentaries

Dr. Schoonover's talk argues that a close examination of how recent eco-documentaries depict environmental disaster reveals the limits of contemporary conceptions of nature.

Dr Sofia Bull begins her postdoctoral research project “Genetic Kinship TV”

The department welcomes Dr Sofia Bull, a new postdoctoral researcher. During the coming academic year she will be conducting a project titled “Genetic Kinship TV” at the department, investigating contemporary discourses on genetics, kinship and reproduction across a range of popular UK and US television genres. The project is funded by the Sven and Dagmar Salén’s Foundation. Dr Bull has a PhD in cinema studies from Stockholm University and has previously worked as an assistant professor at the University of Gothenburg and a visiting postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University.
