Meet Tanisha Bhatara (BA, English Literature, 2022; MSc, Management, 2024), a distinguished alumna. Her journey at ÌÇÐÄTV, shaped by her A-level experiences, and several leaps of faith, led her from English studies to ÌÇÐÄTV. Guided by mentors, she explored new fields and is now on a graduation scheme with EY UKI (Ernst & Young Global Limited UK and Ireland) Assurance Graduate Programme to become a qualified accountant. Discover how Tanisha embraced ÌÇÐÄTV’s opportunities, gaining a comprehensive education that prepared her for life beyond academics.

Former PhD student at ÌÇÐÄTV, Alessandra Tafaro is pleased to announce the publication of her monograph, derived from her PhD.

Nancy Haijing Jiang and Michael Meeuwis were both short-listed and in the postgraduate group, Owain Burrell and Andy Irwin received a Commendation, and Elizabeth Sharrock was declared a winner.

Alison joins fellow TPS PGR student Mark Scott who was appointed as a Fellow of the Institute in February 2022. Within the Institute, he has been part of the Evaluation Learning Circle looking at Evaluation Practice across the university, in addition he supported the Institute with the evaluation of the Resonate Festival in 2022 which coincided with the final part of Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture 2021. In late 2022, he was awarded funding from the Collaboration and Co-Production Fund where he worked with the Belgrade Theatre on developing accessible tools and toolkits relating to evaluation for local artists in Coventry and ÌÇÐÄTVshire. In January, SCFS celebrated the Winter graduation of our GSD MASc students, in addition to several of our GSD and Liberal Arts undergraduates and our first ever PhD graduate.

The graduation ceremony took place at Butterworth Hall on the main ÌÇÐÄTV campus and was followed by a food and drinks reception in the lobby of Ramphal, a location where our School predominantly resides and has become all too familiar for our graduates during their degree studies.

The Head of our Liberal Arts department Dr Bryan Brazeau has now completed his tenure as departmental lead; a responsibility which he has held since 2021. He has now passed on the mantle to Dr William Rupp, who has been an Associate Professor in the Liberal Arts department for four years.

Encounters and Exchanges in a Global Past

The is inviting submissions for a postgraduate conference, Saturday 25 June, 2022. The conference will be held in person in the Oxford History Faculty.

We welcome submissions on the theme 'Encounters and Exchanges in a Global Past.' We will explore the ways in which encounters and exchanges were experienced in the near and distant past. Despite the recent proliferation of frameworks for understanding contact and the exchange of goods, ideas and biota that accompanied it, contact is rarely considered from a truly global perspective that spans millennia, continents and disciplines.

We welcome interdisciplinary submissions relating to exchanges across time and space. We are particularly interested in submissions on:the infrastructure that underlay encounters and exchanges, such as technology and ideology; multi-scalar interaction; the role of translation in contact; the environmental history of encounters and exchanges.

Sessions will consist of 20 minute papers with time for questions and discussion.
