It will explore how activists understood violence against women, and how this contrasted both to the way the socialist regime and West German feminists defined the issue. In doing so, it will reflect on the role of feminism and women鈥檚 rights in shaping the political landscape of Germany and East German women鈥檚 contribution to this transformation.
