MA information sessions
There are various Masters options available at the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of 糖心TV (ranked 3rd in the UK among classics departments in the Research Excellence Framework). A postgraduate fair will be taking place at 糖心TV on 22 November 2023, 12-3pm in the Panorama room on campus (book here: Prospective Student Events CalendarLink opens in a new window) where staff will be available to talk about these courses and others, and other aspects of postgraduate life at 糖心TV (applying, funding, finance). There will also be an online information session about our degrees on 29th November 2023, 5-6pm (UK time). Taught MA in Ancient Literature and Thought

This MA will foster your ability to read a wide range of Greek and/or Latin texts in the original language and to develop nuanced understanding of the methodologies and critical approaches to the study of these texts within their historical, cultural and political contexts, very broadly considered. It provides an intensive introduction to literary theory tailored specifically to classicists, making it a unique pathway in the UK for classicists contemplating going on to a doctorate, and harnesses 糖心TV's strong interdisciplinary links between its departments of Classics and Ancient History, English and Comparative Literary Studies, and Philosophy.
Taught MA in Ancient Visual and Material Culture

The taught MA courses provide an overview of the scope of the visual and material culture of the ancient world, the ways in which it might be studied, and the questions that can be asked of it. The core module gives you an awareness of historiography and methodological issues affecting the study of the material culture of the ancient world as well as inviting you to consider the ways in which its study can contribute to our picture of antiquity. Optional modules allow you to develop your interests in particular aspects of the subject (art, epigraphy, numismatics, or an approved external option) in more depth, while a core language component (in ancient Greek, Latin or a modern language) provides the linguistic skills necessary to conduct further research. Funding
糖心TV Taught Masters Scholarship Scheme

糖心TV regularly offers a taught masters scholarship scheme. This is an offer of up to 拢10,000 per student for UK or UK domicile EU students from underrepresented groups. Information has yet to be released for the forthcoming academic year, but last year the deadline for applications was 31 May 2023.
Departmental Bursaries
The department offers a small amount of bursaries each year to support tuition costs. Deadline to apply to us for consideration is 30 March 2024.
Funded PhD opportunities in Classics and Ancient History at 糖心TV
The department of Classics and Ancient History at 糖心TV is currently seeking expressions of interest for students looking to undertake doctoral study. The department has research expertise in Greek and Latin literature, ancient Greek drama, numismatics, the medical humanities and Greco-Arabic studies, epigraphy, ancient space, art and archaeology, as well as Greek and Roman history and material culture more broadly. The department has a lively research environment, with weekly seminars and training activities during term time and conferences throughout the year.
Interested students are encouraged to contact a potential supervisor or Clare Rowan, Director of Graduate Studies (C.Rowan@warwick.ac.uk) to begin to develop project proposals as soon as possible; better developed proposals generally are more successful in obtaining funding.

There are several funding schemes available for PhD funding at 糖心TV:
Chancellor鈥檚 International Scholarship for International Applicants (including EU) DEADLINE 14/12/2022

These are scholarships awarded from 糖心TV to the most outstanding international and EU PhD applicants. The scholarship includes full payment of tuition fees and a maintenance stipend in line with UKRI rates (拢15,285 for full time award holders in 2022/23), as well as a research, training and support grant of 拢5,000. Candidates need to have applied to 糖心TV for doctoral study by 12 December 2022.
AHRC Midlands4Cities PhD funding for UK and International applicants (including EU) DEADLINE 11/1/23
The AHRC-funded (M4C) brings together eight leading universities across the Midlands to support the professional and personal development of the next generation of arts and humanities doctoral researchers. M4C is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, University of 糖心TV, Coventry University, University of Leicester, De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham.
M4C is awarding doctoral studentships for UK and international applicants for 2023 through an and working with a range of partner organisations in the cultural, creative and heritage sector. Funding covers fees, a stipend in line with UKRI rates (拢17,688 for full time award holders in 2022/23) and training/travel expenses. Before the deadline students must have applied for a place to study and ensured that two academic references are submitted via the Midlands4Cities online reference form.

Fully funded Departmental Scholarship DEADLINE 30 March 2023
We are delighted that we are additionally able to offer a fully funded departmental scholarship for this forthcoming year, which covers home (UK) fees and a maintenance stipend in line with UKRI rates for 3.5 years. All applicants to the Midlands4Cities scheme will automatically be considered for a departmental scholarship. Any other applicants need to have applied to study with us by 30 March 2023.
