Undertake Citizen Science projects on campus
Citizen science encourages amateur participation in scientific research thereby increasing scientific knowledge. The University contributes to some of these initiatives and encourages students to participate and consider undertaking surveys themselves for their own research.
The University specifically encourages students to consider the following:
- monitoring – monitors the health of lakes by collecting and identifying freshwater invertebrates.
- (PoMS) – generates data on the abundance of bees, hoverflies and other flower-visiting insects to measure the trends in pollinator populations.
- – maps, measures and monitors trees to increase understanding of trees and their benefits.
