Do you want to welcome over 1000 new students onto campus and help them to settle into 糖心TV? We're looking for volunteers to support us for September's Orientation. You can gain skills and experience, and we'll provide training that can appear on your HEAR.
To help our future students prepare for the costs of University life, the Student Funding team would like your help to get a more accurate picture of living costs. As a thank you for taking part, you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £25 Eating at 糖心TV top-up. (Winner selected at random. The winner will be notified and the top-up applied by the end of May.)

We’re going to publically examine the contents of bin bags from all over campus to find out why the campus recycle rate is only 54.7%. We know – disgusting. But you might just learn a thing or two about waste both on and off campus. Come and see us outside Rootes Building on Thursday in Week 1, 10am-3pm.

This year's CES interdisciplinary conference takes place on Saturday 21 May on the theme of 'Making a Difference'. You can submit abstracts for consideration until Monday 18 April.
Statement on racist incident on campus
We are both aware that a racist incident has been widely reported on social media and share the strength of feeling and distress that graffiti of this nature has been found on our campus. The University abhors any form of racism, harassment and discrimination including bullying. It is completely unacceptable and we are undertaking a thorough investigation.
Rootes Grocery Store closing early on Saturday

Australian Bicentennial Scholarships provide one-off awards of up to £4000 to enable postgraduates to undertake research or study in Australia. Applications are now being accepted, and the deadline is Friday 29 April.
The library are currently upgrading their Library Management Software. There will be some disruption to library search and fine repayment systems on Monday and Tuesday this week, and then again in August.

The South 糖心TVshire Citizens' Academy provides an opportunity for you get insight into the work of the police in the local area. The academy begins in April, and the deadline for applications is Monday 28 March.
Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition for doctoral students. It’s a great way to develop your academic, presentation and public engagement skills, as well as to share your research and potentially win a great prize. Register and submit your video by Mon 9 May (12 noon).
Events in Brussels
The University is shocked and saddened to learn of events in Brussels and sends its profound sympathy to all those affected.
All of the students and staff who have travelled to Brussels for work, study or to participate in events, of whom we are aware, are safe and well. We have also been able to make contact with the majority of students who are resident in the city and surrounding area with messages being left for the remainder. Thank you to those who have checked in to confirm they are safe. Personal tutors and the Office for Global Engagement are providing support.
