 Full text: The British Council\, in partnership with UK Research and Inn
 ovation\, the British Academy\, the Academy of Medical Sciences\, the Ro
 yal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering\, via the Newton Fund\,
  invites applications for the Newton Fund impact scheme. This provides f
 unding for current and previously funded Newton Fund grantees who worked
  in collaboration with individuals in partner countries\, and who aim to
  maximise the impact from Newton Fund activities. The scheme is expected
  to stimulate new pathways to impact\, broaden impact into other areas o
 r significantly extend impact from previous projects. Grants are provide
 d for the following key areas: •initiating or increasing policy impact o
 r user engagement\; •initiating or increasing engagement with impact mul
 tipliers\, such as businesses\, NGOs or charities. The collaboration bet
 ween UK and partner countries could build on the original partnership or
  form a new partnership\, but at least one component of the team must re
 main the same. Activities must have potential to contribute to the econo
 mic development and social welfare of low- and middle-income countries\,
  benefiting low income or vulnerable populations in these areas. All pro
 posals must articulate a plausible pathway to positive impact on these p
 opulations within 10 years. Each proposal must have one project leader f
 rom the UK and one from the partner country who should be the leader of 
 the previous project. They must be employed by and have a contract that 
 extends beyond the period of the grant at a non-profit HEI\, a UK HEI th
 at receives funding from one of the UK higher education funding bodies o
 r a non-profit research organisation. ÌÇÐÄTVes may lead and submit app
 lications themselves. Organisations affiliated with HEIs in the UK or an
 y other country and based in the partner country are not eligible. Newto
 n Fund alumni in-country whose projects are eligible but did not include
  a UK partner can jointly apply with a UK partner of their choice if the
  partnership improves the impact of their original project. Leaders are 
 encouraged to include project partners or associate partner to provide a
 dditional resources. Joint grants are worth up to £360\,000 each for up 
 to two years. Grants for a UK component are worth up to £160\,00 each. F
 or non-profit research organisations and research institutions\, eligibl
 e costs are provided at 80 per cent of full economic costs. For business
 -led applications\, eligible costs are funded at between 100 per cent an
