DESCRIPTION:The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council\, as p
 art of UK Research and Innovation and in collaboration with the Alan Tur
 ing Institute\, Department for ĚÇĐÄTV\, Energy and Industrial Strategy
  and the Office for Artificial Intelligence\, invites applications for t
 he Turing AI world-leading researcher fellowships. These support the int
 ernational recruitment and retention of a small number of world-leading 
 AI researchers\, with significant packages of support to enable the buil
 ding of centres of excellence in key areas of AI research. The programme
  enables international leaders in addressing the methodological and theo
 retical challenges of AI to move to\, or remain in\, the UK whilst maint
 aining the momentum of their research programmes. It is expected that fe
 llows will: •establish a world leading centre of excellence\, building n
 ew capability and capacity in a strategically important area of AI resea
 rch\; •lead a major programme of AI research\, translation and innovatio
 n\; •build strong relationships and collaborations with academia\, busin
 ess and broader stakeholders in the UK and internationally\; •act as a l
 eader in the community and as an ambassador and advocate for it\, drivin
 g forward the UK and international AI research agenda\; •develop the ski
 lls and careers of their teams\, developing the independent researchers 
 and innovators of the future\; •actively engage with the design of AI fo
 r use\, seeking to address challenges in areas such as ethics\, robustne
 ss\, fairness\, security\, auditability\, and resilience throughout thei
 r research in any context\, building on the principles of responsible re
 search and innovation throughout their activities\; •deliver research wi
 th a high likelihood of impact on UK society and the economy\; •build a 
 broader portfolio of funding and activities beyond the fellowship\, movi
 ng towards a position of sustainability at the end of the fellowship. Ap
 plicants may be employed in any sector anywhere in the world. However\, 
 the host organisation must be a UK HEI\, a research institute funded by 
 a research council or an independent research organisation. Applications
  from those who have taken a non-standard career path after their primar
 y degree are encouraged. Fellows must have demonstrable international st
 anding in their area\, with the potential to add value to the UK AI lead
 ership landscape.
