DESCRIPTION:The European Union is experiencing considerable debate about 
 its possible future(s) in the light of domestic political change\, the l
 ikelihood of ‘Brexit’\, the challenge of ‘Trumpism’ and ‘Putinism’\, and
  continuing turbulence in the broader regional and global arenas. This r
 ound table event is designed to explore a range of potential futures for
  the EU in key areas of policy\, along with their implications both for 
 the EU and its member states and for the future of regional and world or
 der. During the past two years\, there has been a number of proposals fo
 r the future integration or patterns of cooperation in the EU\, put forw
 ard for example by the German Chancellor Angel Merkel\, the President of
  the European Commission\, Jean-Claude Juncker\, the new President of Fr
 ance\, Emmanuel Macron\, and (in a rather different fashion) by advocate
 s of Britain’s departure from the Union or leaders of populist parties i
 n a number of EU member states. Each of these visions entails a view abo
 ut the current problems of European integration\, the role of the Union 
 in the wider world\, and the ways in which it might contribute to the de
 velopment of regional and world order. Each in turn implies assumptions 
 about the roles of the ‘Brussels institutions’\, of EU member states and
  of actors in the global arena. In this round table\, we focus on both t
 he overall discussion about the EU’s future(s) and a number of key polic
 y areas – specifically\, institutional reform\, foreign and security pol
 icy\, and the environment. Speakers will present a range of views and as
 sess a number of scenarios\, with the aim of generating discussion aroun
