DESCRIPTION:The British Council\, under the Newton Fund\, invites proposa
 ls for its researcher links workshop grants for the UK\, Brazil and Jord
 an. These support workshops bringing together a bilateral cohort of earl
 y-career researchers from the UK\, Brazil and Jordan that support resear
 ch areas relevant to the development of the partner countries. The purpo
 se is to contribute to the economic development and social welfare of lo
 w- and middle-income countries\, benefiting low income and vulnerable po
 pulations in these countries. All proposals must demonstrate a plausible
  pathway showing how research may lead to a positive impact on these pop
 ulations within a timeframe of three to 15 years. Workshops may focus on
  a specific research area or an interdisciplinary theme. Proposals in an
 y discipline or multidisciplinary area are supported\, including the nat
 ural and social sciences\, arts and humanities\, however\, the following
  areas are prioritised: •agriculture\; •climate and environment\; •susta
 inable energy for all\; •education research for development\; •economic 
 growth\; •health\; •water and sanitation\; •food and nutrition\; •demogr
 aphic change and migration\; •rural and urban development\; •infrastruct
 ure\; •humanitarian disasters and emergencies\, disaster risk reduction\
 ; •resilient and connected communities\; •governance\, society and confl
 ict\; •development-relevant data collection\, quality and access. Each p
 roposal must have one principal applicant from the UK and one from a par
 tner country. Principal applicants must be permanent employees of a non-
 profit HEI\, a UK HEI\, a non-profit research organisation or a catapult
  centre. There is no limit to the number of applications per institution
 . For-profit organisations may participate but cannot receive funding. W
 orkshops are expected to take place in the partner country\, but may be 
 held in the UK if justified. UK institutions can partner with institutio
 ns affiliated to other UK institutions\, such as an overseas campus\, to
  deliver the workshop if they also include other eligible HEIs or resear
 ch organisations in the partner country. Principal applicants may identi
 fy up to four leading or established researchers to act as mentors\, two
  from each country. The remaining participants must be researchers at an
  earlier stage in their career.
