2026 Midlands Innovation Electron Microscopy (MIEM) Conference and Facility Open Day

The Electron Microscopy Research Technology Platform (EM RTP) at the University of ��TV will host two regional events.

On 21 April 2026, we will host the 3rd Midlands Innovation Electron Microscopy (MIEM) Conference on 21 April 2026, on behalf of the Midlands Innovation Electron Microscopy Network. The conference brings together Research Technical Professionals working in electron microscopy and related fields. The programme will feature talks on advanced microscopy techniques, RTP development, funding opportunities, and updated capabilities across the Midlands Innovation (MI) region. Building on the success of previous events, the conference aims to continue cultivating a strong and prosperous technical network. On the second day, 22 April 2026, EM RTP will hold a Facility Open Day, sponsored by the Technology Specialists Network. The aim of the Open Day is to showcase our world-class instrumentation, raise awareness of the facility’s capabilities, connect with peers in the electron microscopy community, and strengthen partnerships with key EM instrument manufacturers. The event will include a symposium, as well as laboratory tours and live demonstrations. If you are interested in participating as an EM instrument supplier, researcher, or technical specialist, please contact Dr Yisong Han(yisong.han@warwick.ac.uk).

EM RTP Webinar: Detector development for Advanced Electron Microscopy

Abstract: Detector technology has been a key development driving the progress of electron microscopy in recent times. In this talk, we look at the history of electron detection, key considerations when designing such a detector, and explore some of the new applications that have an emerged from recent advances in technology.
