Why do systems create problems then nudge us to fix them?

In WBS' Core Insights, Professor Nick Chater discusses insights from his new book 'It's On You: How the Rich and Powerful Have Convinced Us that We're to Blame for Society's Deepest Problems', co-authored with George Loewenstein.

Nick Chater is Professor of Behavioural Science and teaches Behavioural Sciences for the Manager on the Executive MBA, Executive MBA (London), Global Online MBA, and Global Online MBA (London).

He also teaches Judgement and Decision Making on the MSc ��TV and Finance, MSc Accounting and Financial Management, and MSc Accounting and Sustainability.

Professor Nick Chater has won the prestigious The David E. Rumelhart Prize for his contribution to cognitive science.

Kenny Smith, Chair of the Cognitive Science Society, said: “Professor Chater’s work ranges from reasoning and decision-making to perception, the acquisition and evolution of language, and the virtual bargaining theory of social interaction. Climate policies could be the next target for right-wing populist parties as the cost of energy soars, researchers into the links between climate policy and political parties warn.

Newly published research from the University of ��TV and the University of Sussex ��TV School reveals that the influence of left-of-centre parties increase the strength of a government’s climate policy score by about 22% relative to the average score while the influence of right-wing populist parties leads to a 24% reduction relative to the same average.
