Dr Afzan Binti Adam concludes productive sabbatical at the TIA Centre

Dr Afzan Binti Adam, Senior Lecturer in Digital Pathology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), has successfully completed her six‑month sabbatical at the Tissue Image Analytics (TIA) Centre, Department of Computer Science, University of ��TV. Her visit was supported by UKM and the MIGHT–TÜBİTAK grant and closely aligned with the TIA’s mission to advance computational pathology through interdisciplinary research and cutting‑edge AI technologies. TIAToolbox v2.0.0: A Major Upgrade for Scalable, OpenSource Computational Pathology

The Tissue Image Analytics (TIA) Centre is pleased to announce the release of TIAToolbox v2.0.0, a major update to the opensource platform widely used for digital pathology and AI-driven tissue image analysis. TIAToolbox provides an end-to-end framework for working with whole slide images (WSIs), covering data loading, pre-processing, deep learning inference, postprocessing, and visualisation. It is designed for clinical, biomedical, and computational researchers and supports a broad range of pathology image analysis tasks. Read more.

TIA Researcher Celebrates Viva Success

We are delighted to announce that one of the TIA Centre’s PhD students, Arwa Ali Al-Rubaian, officially defended their PhD viva last last week - congratulations Arwa!

Arwa’s research, was titled Algorithms for Growth Pattern Based-Analysis of Lung Adenocarcinoma Histology. Read more.

Bigpicture Annual Meeting 2026: The Consortium Gathers in Berlin

The fifth Bigpicture Annual Consortium Meeting took place from 28 to 30 January 2026 in Berlin, kindly hosted by Bayer at its Müllerstraße venue. Over three packed days, partners from across the consortium gathered to share progress, align priorities, and plan the next steps in developing a large-scale digital pathology platform and repository. Seven TIA Papers Accepted at ISBI 2026

Undergraduate Summer Intern Success at ISBI

We are delighted to share that the work of Seth Chang (3^rd year Data Science) and Muhammad Amjad (4^th year Maths and Physics), who completed an eight-week summer internship at the TIA Centre in 2025, has been accepted as a paper at ISBI 2026, a leading international conference on biomedical imaging, taking place in London this April.
