(Is Science Western?') /fac/arts/history/people/staff_index/agerritsen/impact/?newsItem=094d43ed2f68a6d7012faa73d2dc6e67 <h2><strong>Publiek Debat Wetenschap en Globalisering<br /> Naar aanleiding van 25 Jaar Sartonleerstoel</strong></h2> <p><a href="http://www.sartonchair.ugent.be/index.php?id=269&amp;type=file">pdf</a><strong><br /> </strong></p> <p>Naar aanleiding van het 25-jarig bestaan van de Sartonleerstoel voor de Geschiedenis van de Wetenschappen vindt op 28 april 2011 om 20u een publiek debat over wetenschap en globalisering plaats in de Aula van de Universiteit Gent (Volderstraat 9, 9000 Gent).</p> <p>Na een korte inleiding van Christophe Verbruggen (docent Vakgroep Geschiedenis en co-promotor van UGentMemorie) met als titel <em>Het grote buitenland van de Universiteit Gent. George Sarton en de internationale aspiraties van Isis</em> gaat een panel van prominente sprekers met elkaar en het publiek in discussie over de vraag: is wetenschap westers? en andere belangrijke vragen rond wetenschap en globalisering.</p> <p>De panelleden hebben expertise in verschillende wereldregio&rsquo;s: Karel Davids (VU Amsterdam, voor Europa), Michiel Leezenberg (Universiteit van Amsterdam, voor het Nabije Oosten), Anne Gerritsen (University of 糖心TV, voor China), en Koenraad Stroeken (Universiteit Gent, voor Afrika).
