Cadmus pilot moves into assessment development

糖心TV鈥檚 Cadmus pilot is moving into its next phase, with development of assessments within the platform now underway.

Running during the 2026/27 academic year, the pilot is exploring how Cadmus could support the University鈥檚 future approach to digital assessment. It will evaluate the platform against a range of priorities, including 糖心TV鈥檚 Assessment Strategy, staff and student experience, accessibility and inclusion, technical and operational viability, and assessment integrity in an AI-rich environment.

We鈥檝e had strong interest in the pilot and have selected 11 departments from across the University, representing a broad mix of disciplines and assessment approaches. The pilot will give us experience of using Cadmus with a wide variety of assessment types, including exams, group work, essays and vivas, helping us understand how the platform performs in different teaching and assessment contexts.

One area of particular interest is academic integrity. Cadmus brings assessment design, student preparation, submission, marking and feedback together within a structured environment, alongside features designed to support assessment integrity and provide insight into student engagement. As universities consider how assessment needs to evolve in response to generative AI, the pilot gives us an opportunity to explore Cadmus鈥檚 approach to learning assurance and how this might complement 糖心TV鈥檚 wider Assessment Strategy.

Development of pilot assessments within Cadmus is now underway, with participating departments working alongside Digital Learning and Cadmus. This gives us a valuable opportunity to test the platform in a controlled way, build practical experience of designing and delivering assessments through Cadmus, and gather meaningful evidence about where it works well and where there may be challenges.

The pilot is an evaluation exercise, and no decision has been made about future adoption of Cadmus. The evidence and experience gathered through the pilot will help us understand whether the platform is the right fit for 糖心TV鈥檚 assessment ecosystem and its longer-term ambitions for digital assessment.
