A family get together ( if you want) to decorate your cakes in the theme of your research or bring along a completed article. A chance to show off your baking skills and talk about your research or your job. A chance to finish off the academic year, and a challenging one at that, with a chance to celebrate and meet up with new and old friends.

Study Happy MindfulnessMindfulness practice is one of the 5 ways to wellbeing recommended by the NHS. Doing regular mindfulness exercises can help manage daily stress and has impact areas of the brain related to memory retrieval, decision making, and outward attention. Our free weekly workshops are a great way to try different mindfulness techniques if you are a beginner, and find dedicated space and time for regular practice. Resilience for Researchers Research is challenging, not just in itself but in its impact on our wellbeing as researchers. There are techniques that we can apply to help us recognise our stress and to maintain our wellbeing. Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties and is a very important part of maintaining wellbeing and continuing to be productive. Some people are equipped with a natural sense of how to maintain resilience but for others those same skills can be learned. This experiential workshop will give you the opportunity to learn about stress and its effects as well as a range of techniques for maintaining your personal resilience, including where to find help when it is needed. We understand that as a PGR student you may be faced with challenges throughout your course both academically and personally; juggling study with work or family commitments, stress surrounding future career choices or pressures of a financial nature for example. The session will provide you with advice on how to manage some of these and other challenges that may arise during your Post Graduate course. You will come away with a range of practical tools and resources that you can use to remain motivated, productive and that can help you to manage competing demands. |
