Volunteering- Holly Bashing in Park Wood
Location: See Potential Advantage webpage
- Volunteers will be cutting down small holly trees from Park Wood, to improve the biodiversity in the woodland. This activity provides a great opportunity for volunteers to explore nature.
Holly is an evergreen tree that grows in woodlands. If there are a lot of holly trees growing close together, the woodland can become dark and gloomy. This impacts the biodiversity in the woodland, as other tree species do not have enough light to germinate. Gradually over time, a species-rich woodland can turn into a wood dominated by holly trees. - Tools and gloves are provided. No experience is needed. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and strong shoes or boots that you don't mind getting a little muddy. Holly has prickly leaves, so wear old clothes that fully cover your arms, legs, and ankles.
