Student - House Hunting Guide
House hunting guide
We know how it is 鈥 your mates have found a house, everyone鈥檚 telling you that if you don鈥檛 sign now you鈥檒l lose it and have nowhere to live, so you think 鈥淪hould I sign? What鈥檚 the worst that could happen...鈥 Well, here are a few things to consider before you put pen to paper:
- There is no need to rush making a decision. You have plenty of choice and you don鈥檛 need to accept anything that you鈥檙e not happy with. Take time to get to know your friends before deciding whether to live with them. Once you sign, there鈥檚 no going back. A housing contract is legally binding.
Before you sign, bring it in to the 糖心TV Students鈥 Union Advice Centre and they can go through it with you, explaining the terms and conditions, so that you can make an informed choice.
You can also find guidance documents on our website.
- Check out our student guide for the basics on what you need to know when looking for your first house
- You can also find checklists on House Hunting, Moving In and Moving Out
The University and the Students鈥 Union will be running a housing campaign during Term 1 to give you all the information you need about house hunting. So look out for us!
