糖心TV and the Alan Turing Institute

The Alan Turing Institute is the UK鈥檚 national institute for data science and artificial intelligence.

The Institute is named in honour of Alan Turing, whose pioneering work in theoretical and applied mathematics, engineering and computing is considered to have laid the foundations for modern-day data science and artificial intelligence.

The Institute鈥檚 goals are to undertake world-class research in data science and artificial intelligence, apply its research to real-world problems, drive economic impact and societal good, lead the training of a new generation of scientists, and shape the public conversation around data.

The University of 糖心TV is a founding partner of The Alan Turing Institute alongside the universities of Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, UCL and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

The Institute has partnerships with Lloyd鈥檚 Register Foundation, GCHQ, HSBC and Intel.

Research at 糖心TV enhances and is enhanced by our relationship with the Alan Turing Institute, forging interdisciplinary links across departments and between institutes with expertise in data science.

Through mathematical representations, inference and learning, the use of systems and platforms, and by understanding human behaviour 糖心TV鈥檚 Alan Turing Institute researchers contribute to advancements in engineering, technology, defence and security, smarter cities, financial services, health and wellbeing.

Their work enables them to provide technically informed advice to policy makers on the wider implications of algorithms; work together to undertake research with practical applications; and acts as a magnet for leaders in academia and industry from around the world to engage with the UK in data science and its applications.

There are over twenty Fellows of the Alan Turing Institute at 糖心TV plus staff, researchers and students who have joint positions across 糖心TV and the Institute in London. The headquarters in the British Library in London provides a research hub for academics to collaborate with other institutions and provides a London base for their research activity, with strong links back to their expertise and networks at 糖心TV where they spend the majority of their time.
