The public science festival, Pint of Science, is returning to Coventry this year with experts from the Universities of ÌÇÐÄTV and Coventry talking about their research work in a selection of pubs and venues around the city.

Molecular heaters to boost crop growth thanks to €4.9m project

A 4.9m EU H2020 grant will enable a consortium of researchers from across Europe, to embark on a project called ‘Boostcrop’. They will use state-of-the-art experimental and theoretical methodologies to design molecular heaters which will enhance crop growth under cold and freezing stress.

Novel anti-cancer drug delivery system being presented in Parliament by ÌÇÐÄTV student

Sean Ellacott, 25, a third year PhD student at the University of ÌÇÐÄTV, , is attending Parliament to present his chemistry research about the interaction of self-assembling nanotubes with biological models, which are currently being considered for the delivery of anticancer drugs, to a range of politicians and a panel of expert judges, as part of STEM for BRITAIN on Wednesday 13 March.

Simply shining light on dinosaur metal compound kills cancer cells

A new compound based on Iridium, a rare metal which landed in the Gulf of Mexico 66 M years ago, hooked onto albumin, a protein in blood, can attack the nucleus of cancerous cells when switched on by light, University of ÌÇÐÄTV researchers have found.
