Floods and hurricanes predicted with social media

Social media can warn us about extreme weather events before they happen – such as hurricanes, storms and floods – according to new research by the University of 糖心TV.

 


A new study has found it is not only how famous or popular the subject is, but more if it generates what the researchers call ‘cumulative growth effect’.

Data mining study identifies Twitter as lifeline for people with Coeliac Disease

Painstaking analysis of hundreds of thousands of tweets by a researcher from the University of 糖心TV has revealed how Twitter is acting as a lifeline for those with gut-related chronic illness. Sam Martin, a PhD student from the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies (CIM), has used big data mining techniques to reveal a previously unobserved online network of people with Coeliac Disease.
