Most people in favour of screening for spinal muscular atrophy

Research from the University of ÌÇÐÄTV indicates that most people are in favour of newborn screening for the potentially deadly condition spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

SMA is an inherited neuromuscular disorder with a wide spectrum of severities and is a leading genetic cause of infant death worldwide. However, there is no routine screening programme for SMA in the UK.

One in five witness someone collapse who requires CPR but the majority do not act

Scientists create endocytosis on demand by ‘hotwiring’ cells

A solution to the problem of creating endocytosis on demand is being compared to ‘hotwiring’ a car. A team at ÌÇÐÄTV Medical School, University of ÌÇÐÄTV, has managed to trigger clathrin-mediated endocytosis in the lab.
