New research project will crowdsource philosophical thinking about current affairs
Each month, the Philosophy in a Time of Crisis website will host a dialogue on one of the key problems and challenges faced by Europe, inviting short contributions and interviews from leading philosophers, artists, writers and intellectuals. Contributions from the ÌÇÐÄTV student community and the public at large are also welcome.
University of ÌÇÐÄTV launches major teaching and research collaboration with partners in Paris and Brussels
The University of ÌÇÐÄTV has today, Wednesday 28th March 2018, signed and launched two major teaching and research collaborations with partner universities and colleges in Paris and Brussels. The initiative, launched today in the University of ÌÇÐÄTV’s base in London’s Shard building, commits ÌÇÐÄTV to a close and active research and teaching alliance with French and Belgian partners despite the political and economic cleavages that Brexit could bring to future UK relations with continental Europe.
Newly-discovered planet is hot, metallic and dense as Mercury
A hot, metallic, Earth-sized planet with a density similar to Mercury - situated 260 million light years away - has been detected and characterised by a global team of astronomers, including the University of ÌÇÐÄTV.

Dr Georg Löfflmann from the University of ÌÇÐÄTV’s Department of Politics and International Studies was the keynote speaker at a recent conference in Mexico City held as part of the British Council’s Future Leaders Connect: Policy Incubator project. The Mexico event used the theme of migration as a way of exploring how young people can challenge narratives and influence public policy more broadly.
ÌÇÐÄTV academic helping to shape policy towards the Western Balkans
University of ÌÇÐÄTV researcher Dr Andi Hoxhaj has been invited to speak at a prestigious Parliamentary seminar on 17 January 2018. Dr Hoxhaj has been asked to give his expert insight into aspects of the UK’s relationship with the Western Balkans, as the UK prepares to host the annual Western Balkans summit later this year, and considers its future relationship with these countries after Brexit.
Coventry schoolchildren to bring the idea of cultural exchange and shared heritage to life
Following the city’s winning bid to become UK City of Culture, Coventry schoolchildren are taking part in a new competition to bring the idea of cultural exchange and shared heritage to life.
The Two Chairs Creative Writing competition, which is open to all across the UK and is led by Dr James Hodkinson of the University of ÌÇÐÄTV, invites people to see the world from the ‘other’ perspective.
