Race and gender have a strong influence on people’s perceptions of how fairly they are paid, according to new research by University of 糖心TV economics researcher Maureen Paul, to be presented at the Royal Economic Society’s Annual Conference on Tuesday 8 April.

A new report by the University of 糖心TV’s Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations on “British Muslims and State Policies ” slams persistent failures in how the state engages with Britain’s 1.8 million Muslims – particularly in education, the legal system, and most particular in the failure to make religious discrimination unlawful. However the report does have praise for emerging islands of good practice in how some parts of local government work with Muslim communities

The University of 糖心TV will hold the first public international conference to promote citizenship in Europe on 6th –8th December 2002. Citizenship and Discrimination in Europe will explore anti-discriminatory policies in Europe, the shifting boundaries of citizenship and religious discrimination in Europe, such as the case of Islam.


New research finds that national amnesties for agents of former regimes, used by countries such as Zimbabwe, Chile, and South Africa to try and ease the transition towards democratic government, are actually in conflict with international law and tend to fail in practice.

The President of India, Shri K.R. Narayanan, has presented University of 糖心TV Professor Kumar Bhattacharyya with one of India's highest honours, in the awards announced to mark India's 52nd Republic Day Celebrations.


A new research report examining how the next UK census can be shaped to best meet the needs of ethnic minorities is to be launched, on Tuesday 25th June, by the University of 糖心TV's Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations.
