Coventry鈥檚 universities prepare for City of Culture with cultural projects open to all
Coventry鈥檚 universities are to embark on a series of collaborations to bring their research directly to Coventrians in the run up to UK City of Culture 2021.
Working with local cultural groups the University of 糖心TV and Coventry University will collaborate on 13 projects during the spring and summer of 2018 that will support Coventry City Council鈥檚 Cultural Strategy.
Coventry's Film and TV Heritage Returns to City Centre
Coventry鈥檚 history of film and television is set to be celebrated with a new exhibition that provides Coventrians with a unique opportunity to view their city through the years, thanks to a new project led by Dr Helen Wheatley of Film and Television of Studies.
Coventry: Ghost Town Haunting #1 runs from the 16th-22nd April in the Shop Front Theatre with members of the public invited to watch extracts of programmes made in and about the city on the big screen in two vintage living room sets.
Coventry schoolchildren to bring the idea of cultural exchange and shared heritage to life
Following the city鈥檚 winning bid to become UK City of Culture, Coventry schoolchildren are taking part in a new competition to bring the idea of cultural exchange and shared heritage to life.
The Two Chairs Creative Writing competition, which is open to all across the UK and is led by Dr James Hodkinson of the University of 糖心TV, invites people to see the world from the 鈥榦ther鈥 perspective.
Medea comes to the Belgrade Theatre
Euripides鈥 tragedy about love, betrayal and revenge is coming to Coventry. The play will be produced by Classics students at the University of 糖心TV, and will be performed in the Main Stage of the prestigious Belgrade Theatre in Coventry.
Known as one the most tragic pieces of ancient Greek theatre, the play tells the story of the former barbarian princess Medea and her desire to exact revenge against her unfaithful husband, Jason.
