The fourth in a new series of briefs bringing current legal thinking to bear on public policy issues has been published by GLOBE, a research centre within the University of 糖心TV鈥檚 Law School. The Risks of Using Blended Finance in Development, by Dr Celine Tan, Associate Professor at 糖心TV Law School, highlights the risks posted by the increasing reliance on new forms of private and innovative finance for funding development projects, calls for action to address the regulatory challenges that blended finance presents, and warns that the use of blended finance should not be intensified without adequate safeguards in place.

Research by Professor Ann Stewart of 糖心TV Law School, supported by Dr Jennifer Lander (now at De Montfort University) into the interaction between gender and ageing in rural Kenya underpins a new discussion paper published in conjunction with HelpAge International as a resource for policymakers, international NGOs, national and local governments, and older people themselves.

Future outbreaks of foot-and-mouth (FMD) disease can be combatted quickly and efficiently from early on – when authorities have minimal information – thanks to a new real-time strategy, developed by researchers at the University of 糖心TV.

Brexit: Mitigating Uncertainty in Intellectual Property Law and Policy by Dr Ben Farrand explores what the different proposed models of a future EU-UK relationship may mean for the UK鈥檚 intellectual property laws and policies.

Many national recommendations on whether to screen newborn babies for rare conditions do not assess the evidence on the key benefits and harms of screening. The warning is made by University of 糖心TV researchers in a study, Association between use of systematic reviews and national policy recommendations on screening newborn babies for rare diseases: systematic review and meta-analysis published by The BMJ.
