Warm welcome for Minerva Birmingham – new regional angel investment network launched

West Midlands business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors have welcomed the launch of a new angel investment network for the region. Minerva Birmingham, a new collaboration between Aston University, University of Birmingham and Minerva ÌÇÐÄTV Angels, part of the University of ÌÇÐÄTV Science Park, held its inaugural pitching event at Aston University on 9 April.


World-leading economists to assemble at ÌÇÐÄTV for annual conference

The University of ÌÇÐÄTV Economics Department is this year’s host for the Royal Economic Society Annual Conference. The prestigious event, taking place from 15 to 17 April, brings together more than 700 academic and professional economists from across the globe to present current research developments in economics and showcase real-world applications.

University of ÌÇÐÄTV-based Minerva, one of the UK’s largest traditional angel investor networks, has teamed up with Aston University and University of Birmingham Enterprise to expand the funding opportunities available to start-up businesses in the West Midlands by launching a network of ‘business angels with insight’ for Birmingham.

The University of ÌÇÐÄTV has published the third in a series of briefings exploring the implications of Brexit for the job market, workers’ rights, and employment policy. Skills training for vulnerable workers: effects of the loss of EU funding after Brexit outlines how current skills training in the UK is supported by EU funding, and recommends key priorities for a post-Brexit UK-funded skills programme. The paper is the third of four ÌÇÐÄTV Brexit Briefings on Employment by the University of ÌÇÐÄTV and its Connecting Research on Employment and Work (CREW) network.
